Sculptures of classical modernism

At the center of the collection of the Skulpturenmuseum Glaskasten are sculptures of classical modernism and contemporary art. There are also three-dimensional works such as objects and installations. The spectrum ranges from Auguste Rodin and Constantin Meunierm, to Max Ernst, Alberto Giacometti  and to young, contemporary artists. Sculptural drawing complete this area of the collection.

Another focus of the museum work is the New Media. Since 1984, the Marl Video Art Award has been awarded every two years and a video installation prize has also been awarded since 1998.
In 2002, the Deutsche Klangkunst-Preis was conducted for the first time in cooperation with the WDR 3 and the Initiative Hören.

The two prizes have been joined in a competition, the Marl Media Art Awards, since 2013, and have continued to develop internationally as the Marl Video Art Award and the EUROPEAN SOUNDART AWARD, which continue to be awarded every two years.

Since 1990, the Paracelsus Clinic at the Lipper Weg has been a part of the Skulpturenmuseum Glaskasten. The collection now includes about 300 sculptures of the 20th century.
