After the Hungarian uprising of 1956, musicians who had fled founded the exile orchestra “Philharmonia Hungarica” near Vienna. In search of a hometown, they finally ended up in Marl. They were promised ideal living and working conditions here. Even today, the "Hungary Settlement" and "Gulash Bunker" are visible evidence in the townscape of Marl. But has the city of Marl kept its promises to the "Philharmonia Hungarica"? Based on the results of extensive research and interviews with members of the Philharmonia Hungarica, this lecture is intended to tell an unusual story.
