Artist Talk with Markus Karstieß and Gereon Krebber in the exhibition
Moderation: Georg Elben

On the last day of the exhibition "Keramocringe" Gereon Krebber will talk to fellow artist Markus Karstieß about the relevance of ceramics in art. For a long time it was frowned upon as a purely handcrafted material, but recently clay has been rediscovered by many artists and can be seen frequently again. Markus Karstieß is one of the most prominent sculptors who primarily work with ceramics and glaze works. He is a professor at the Institute for Artistic Ceramics and Glass (IKKG) in Höhr-Grenzhausen. In his own work, he deals with figure formations and spatial settings that consciously stage manual traces and use their pictorial potential. Krebber and Karstieß will talk about material and production and about their finished works, their production and effect and reflect their artistic position in the context of contemporary art.

The conversation in the exhibition starts at 3:00 p.m., ends at 4:30 p.m. and is in German. “Gereon Krebber - Keramocringe” runs until 24th October 2021 at Skulpturenmuseum Glaskasten Marl. Admission is free.

Participation without registration, but according to the 3G rule.
