On Sunday, October 15, 2023, the Kunststiftung NRW and the Skulpturenmuseum Marl say goodbye to the “Glass Pavilion Marl”. The sound installation by artist Camille Normet was on view for six weeks in the Skulpturenpark Marl as part of the Kunststiftung NRW Art Prize.

The finissage starts with a greeting from the award winner on the big screen in the Grimme Institute, Marl. Afterwards, two keynote speeches by the art historian Bettina Haiss and the artist Denise Ritter introduce a conversation about the conditions under which sound art can be shown in public spaces today. Finally, there is a walk together to the glass pavilion.

Bettina Haiss discusses the spatial design aspects of art in public spaces. Using selected examples, she also examines the question of what role the viewer plays in this context.

In her lecture, Denise Ritter talks about the risks and opportunities of sound installations in public spaces. She also explains the process behind it - from planning to implementation and mediation work.
